Partner of the year: Institute for Community Alliances
The Institute for Community Alliances is the backbone of Anchorage’s data-driven homelessness response. As our Homeless Management Information System lead, ICA goes far beyond system maintenance, ensuring data quality, integrity and usability so Anchorage can actually see what’s happening in real time. When the system needed clarity, speed or troubleshooting, ICA showed up consistently and collaboratively.
Just as importantly, ICA operates as a true thought partner to the Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness. They understand the realities of frontline work, HUD requirements and Alaska’s unique context, and they translate those complexities into practical solutions for providers and system leaders alike. Their commitment to partnership, transparency, and continuous improvement makes ICA not just a vendor but a trusted ally.
Honoring partners and volunteers in 2025
The work of helping our unhoused neighbors along a path to stable housing couldn’t be done without community support. Our annual awards recognize volunteers and partners for outstanding contributions.
Volunteer of the Year:
Harry Need
We often say we couldn’t do what we do without volunteers and in the case of our fundraising strategy, that truth is underscored.
Harry Need has served as a pivotal member of our Development Committee ever since it was formed in 2023. At his day job, he’s senior director of philanthropic services for the University of Alaska Foundation. In his role as an ACEH volunteer, Harry offers that same professional expertise to help with strategy, best practices and goals. He is generous with his time, thoughtful in his advice and gracious in helping a team that started with very little fundraising experience. As we work to strengthen community connections and support, we are grateful for Harry.
