Continuum of Care grant competition update
Our community remains well positioned to submit a strong, collaborative federal grant application to support housing and services for people moving out of homelessness.
Although the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has temporarily rescinded the Continuum of Care Notice of Funding Opportunity announced in November, HUD has clearly stated its intent to re-issue this NOFO, with no timeframe specified other than before the end of the federal fiscal year on Sept. 30, 2026. In the meantime, the Anchorage Continuum of Care is continuing coordinated planning, so we are ready when the opportunity reopens.
What this means for local projects
The Anchorage CoC is pausing the ranking of individual projects during this period. This pause allows partners to stay aligned around shared priorities, strengthen collaboration, and focus on HUD’s areas of interest such as strategies that reduce homelessness overall.
Federal homelessness funding works best when local organizations work together. By continuing collaborative planning now — even amid uncertainty — Anchorage is positioning itself to respond quickly and competitively when HUD re-issues the funding opportunity, ensuring local projects are aligned, effective and ready to serve people with the greatest needs.
In fiscal year 2024, HUD awarded $4.2 million to projects within the Anchorage CoC, primarily supporting permanent housing, as well as youth navigation, data management, and the Coordinated Entry system that prioritizes people with the greatest needs. That track record reflects a strong, effective partnership across our community.
In the coming weeks, agencies including the Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness will reach out to partners to confirm roles and relationships within the Continuum of Care.
Stay connected
Updates will be shared as HUD provides additional guidance.
