Healthcare collaborations will center needs of individuals
Ziona Brownlow of ACEH led the recent healthcare panel at the 2025 summit, Anchorage’s Coordinated Response to Homelessness.
We are working to formalize partnerships with our community’s healthcare organizations to prevent anyone from being discharged into homelessness. Our healthcare integration director, Ziona Brownlow, recently met with colleagues at the Alaska Psychiatric Institute to share about the Coordinated Entry system that prioritizes housing for those most in need and our hospital discharge liaison efforts. Those attending included a range of API staff from forensic psychologists to discharge planners. All play a vital role in a patient’s experience and discharge. We’re hopeful our opportunity to engage with this multi-disciplinary team leads to co-designing solutions to the system gaps currently affecting patients navigating healthcare needs and homelessness.
Ziona started her career in social and health services almost a decade ago at the Alaska Psychiatric Institute as a 19-year-old psychiatric nursing assistant, a position she held for three years. Now she is meeting with API as an ACEH director and collaborator in improving care.
