Meg Zaletel transformed our work. We are grateful for her years here.

Meg led ACEH for 3 ½ years.

Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness Executive Director Meg Zaletel will be leaving the organization this summer. We are grateful for everything Meg has given ACEH.

“Meg is a transformational leader,” board Chairman Nathan Johnson said. “Under her leadership, ACEH made more affordable housing available; built a robust outreach and data system to know who is experiencing homelessness and what type of supports they need; and consistently moved more people from homelessness to stable housing. She’s a visionary who not only sees what is needed but also finds ways to make it happen.”

Johnson said that Meg built an extraordinary staff at ACEH and also integrated the skills and services of social service agencies and health providers, funders and community members to form a system that achieves far more than any could do on their own.

“While the board of directors is disappointed to see Meg move on, she has accomplished the best in leadership: She knit together a community safety net that works for people experiencing homelessness and the overall community,” Johnson said. “That partnership will carry on with the resilience to meet any situation that arises.”

Meg Zaletel spoke at the recent summit, Anchorage’s Coordinated Response to Homelessness. She noted that someone who is unsheltered must be able to fit all their belongings into two totes to get into shelter.

“It has been an extraordinary challenge and privilege to build the partnerships that center people in our community’s response to homelessness. There is much to be proud of and still much to do. I am especially grateful to the ACEH team for its creative, consistent and passionate commitment to helping people with housing,” Meg said. “I was not planning to leave ACEH, but an opportunity arose for my family. After the sacrifices they have made while I worked double duty at ACEH and at the Assembly, it is now my family’s chance to follow their opportunities. I will remain forever grateful to the many wonderful partners in Anchorage and around the state who have joined ACEH in this work.”

Meg has led ACEH for 3 ½ years. She recently was named to the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce’s Athena Society. She plans to stay with the organization into the summer.

“It will be tough to replace Meg’s passion, energy and effectiveness. It is bittersweet that she will be moving on, as she has meant so much to this organization and the critical work ACEH staff do in our community every day. At the same time, we are thrilled for Meg and her family to start an exciting new chapter in life,” Johnson said.

The ACEH board of directors will begin the hiring process for a new executive director in the coming weeks.
